Workshop for the new catalogue and a card

It's been a while, sorry about that.  I have been busy cleaning up my craft room and getting ready for the switch to the new catalogue.  I spent a good chunk of the weekend and a bit tonight retiring the old and getting ready for the new.  I'm SO excited for the new catalogue and everything that is in it!  Lots of great new colors, old in colors returning and so many new stamp sets!
I will be hosting a workshop at my house on July 5th at 7:00 pm to celebrate the occasion!!  Please come, bring a friend if you like.  We will be making a card and browsing through all of the great new products that Stampin' Up! has to offer for the 2010-2011 year.  No obligation to purchase anything, just come out and see the great product that I love.  If you would like to come and need the address, please leave me a comment or email me (link on the top left).
If you can't make it to the workshop, you can always shop online 24-7 through my Stampin' Up! website.
Tonight I was also busy actually making cards and playing with some new stuff that I got last week. This one is a set, Elements of Style in wood or clear mount from the summer mini catalogue, that I didn't think that I would EVER use all of.  I loved the flourish, but wasn't sure about this hummingbird stamp as I am really not a bird person, but this was perfect for this card.  It is great to be able to use more of the set than I had originally thought - I love it when that happens!

I got the sketch for this card from the clean&simple challenge FTL95.  As you know, I enjoy the simplicity of their sketches as anyone can make them!

Sympathy Trees

It is always hard when someone passes away, but it seems worse when it is sudden.  I made this card for a co-worker who suddenly lost a close friend.  He was around my age which is just too young.
I wanted this card to be masculine and somber.  I don't have many stamp sets that are masculine, but I like how versatile this set Lovely As A Tree set is.  It can really be used for any occasion.
The sentiment is from Close As A Memory, which is retiring at the end of June.  If you would like it before it disappears forever, please click here to order it directly from me.  If you don't like ordering online, please leave me a comment and I will get back to you asap.
The colors used in this card are Close to Cocoa and Sage Shadow.  Unfortunately, Sage Shadow is retiring as well and I believe that they are already sold out.  I have sponged the edges of the Whisper White CS as well to give it a softer effect.

Finally the rest of the cards!

Finally, the rest of the cards from the baby shower prize!  I feel like it has been SO long, but really it was just last weekend.  Time has really flown by this past week, I guess that is what happens when you are busy!

I got the idea for these cards from Julie at Paper Pleasing Ideas.  She is always such a great inspiration and her blog is always there check out when I get stuck or need something quick, like I did for these cards.
The stamps sets for both of these cards are Fifth Avenue Floral and Well Scripted from the occasions mini catalogue.
I thought this Congratulations card would make a great wedding card.  It is so simple and neutral so could really be used for any occasion.  The colors are Basic Black and Sahara Sand.
This birthday card is Pretty in Pink and Basic Black.  A great birthday card for any lady in your life!

Wonderful Wedding!

We went to the wedding of some really great friends on Friday.  It turned out to be such a wonderful day, not only did it not rain, with all the rain that we have had lately it is shocking that it was sunny the whole day, but everything went really well!  The church was beautiful, just as the bride had said.  The food was amazing.  And everyone seemed to have had a great time!
I will start out with the card that I made for the happy couple (as I like to do things last minute and made it that morning)!  The teal flower is Taken with Teal and the Congratulations comes from the Well Scripted Stamp Set.  The rest of the supplies come from a local store.
It was made to match the theme of the wedding which was based on the peacock feathers that were carried by all of the bridesmaids and displayed on all of the tables at the reception.  I just love how amazing they look!
I didn't get a really great shot of the newly-wed couple together, but I did get some of our close group of friends that were there.  Here are the girls
and the boys
(FYI - as mentioned earlier, the colors were browns, teals and golds not red as some people looking at these pictures might think.  Those two just happened to show up wearing the same color!)

Here is one last picture of my husband and I from that night.
We really did have a wonderful time at the wedding!  It is so nice to see such a great couple get married!  I hope they are having a wonderful honeymoon.  Can't wait to hear about their travels when they get back.

Trendy Cards

Here are a couple more of the cards that I made for the baby shower prize.  These are made with the Trendy Trees stamp set, which you can find online here.
I like how simple these cards are, and yet they still look so good.

Here are both of the cards on their own, for a bit of a closer look.

Hope you enjoyed them.  I will try to post the last two over the weekend.  It is a bit busy for me this weekend with a wedding on Friday and my Grandpa's 90th Birthday party on Saturday!

Baby Shower

I will be back later with more pictures of cards that I made as a prize for the shower, but first I have pictures from the shower!

This is the diaper cake that I made as my gift.
I gathered all of the diapers, tied them with string and then tied the ribbon around that.  All of the toys are sewn to the ribbon with fish line so that they wouldn't fall off and because it is clear!  I didn't want to sew them to the diapers as I expect her to be able to use them all!

These next two pictures are the real cake that another friend (and co-worker) made for the event.
The foil board that it is on is a shelf that just fit in the back seat of my car!  It was HUGE, but it looked amazing and was very tasty!

If you couldn't tell already, we had a jungle themed shower.  These are some of the decorations that I had put together to scatter around that back yard.
I love how cute they all look together!  I used my cricut to cut them out, but all of the paper is Stampin' Up!  I have heard from some people that they have problems cutting through the great quality paper that Stampin' Up! has, but I don't seem to have too much trouble with it.

Last, but not least, here is the card that I made for her.
Hope you all have a good night!  I'm going to go get some well-deserved rest!

Cherish Life's Moments

I was once again inspired by the clean&simple stamping sketches challenge FTL93.  I love how quick it is to put a card together with such great sketches and that is important when making cards as a party gift.  I am getting ready for a friends baby shower on Sunday and I figured what better gift to give out as a prize than some handmade cards!
It was such a great sketch that I decided to make two of them.

Here is a closer look at the two of them. Both are made only with Stampin' Up! products. Cherish is made with one of my FAVORITE stamp sets, Baroque Motifs.
Life's Moments is made with Elements of Style, which is in the summer mini catty.  To be honest, I wasn't sure when I would ever use the main image that is stamped on this card, but I like that way that it looks on this card.

I'm off to a scrap all day tomorrow (10 am to Midnight) with my MIL and her friend.  Not only will it be a good time and help me get my wedding album scrapped, but it is also for a good cause!

G'Night all!

Pink Birthday

I was commissioned to do this card by a friend.  She needed a card for her 7 year old niece and she said that she likes pink.  For the first while I had no idea what to do or make.  I don't have many children of that age in my life so I don't have many stamp sets that would work for something like that, even though I think I may have to buy more now!
After much deliberation, this is what I came up with.

Most of the stuff on this card is not Stampin' Up! but the cardstock is.  The colors are Tempting Turquiose and Pixie Pink.  I don't think it is too bad for a 7 year old, what do you think?

After the fact

I may be a little behind posting a mother's day card, but I love this card.  I am huge on butterflies and the colour purple right now.  I have never really been a huge fan of purple, I was more of a pink girl, but I can't get enough of this Cottage Wall DSP and it is turning me into a purple person.  Love Rich Razzleberry and am SO glad that Stampin' Up! isn't retiring this colour.

Enough of my rambling and onto the card.

Everything is SU except the pearls on the largest butterfly, from a local dollar store.  On the two smaller butterflies I used the shimmer white paint from the Occasions Mini, but it is still available.

Here is a closer look

Hope you enjoyed it, I know both my mom and MIL sure did as I waited till last minute to make them so I made the same card for both!
