Happy Halloween!

As you can tell, I am still working on the blog, but it is getting closer to what I want it to be.  What do you think so far?

Tomorrow...well, I guess today if I look at the clock is Halloween!  I'm not a huge Halloween person, but I do enjoy it.  I was out for supper tonight admiring all of the costumes and all of the hard work that has gone into them, but at the same time, I didn't get dressed up and I won't tomorrow.  Maybe it is something about the hard work that they put into the costumes...I'm not sure, I just don't enjoy dressing up as much as I used to.

I am excited about tomorrow though!  We live in an apartment, so we don't get a lot of trick or treaters, but we have a few friends with little ones so I decided that this year I would do something special for them.  It actually worked out great, as I was asked to demo something for Halloween at the crop that I demoed at last weekend so I used the same project!

These great little boxes hold a rice krispie treat just right!  I went online to get some ideas, but when I saw this I knew that it would be perfect!  I love rice krispies so much that my wedding cake was made out of them, so this was the perfect thing for me!  Unfortunately, the blog that I found it on is bookmarked on a different computer so I will have to add it later.

These are just a few of the boxes that I made

I love how cute this Fang-tastic stamp set is!  All of that the stamps are from that set.  The one on the far left has the broom stamped all over as a background stamp, the middle has the bat image stamped as a background and the one on the right I have used the Spider Web embossing folder.  The images are stamped in black staz-on ink and then coloured in with the Stampin' Write markers.

This next bag is for one special little girl.  She isn't big enough to be able to eat the treats yet, so she gets something special!  I don't want to spoil the surprise for her momma, as I know she reads my blog, but I will show you what the bag looks like!
This is the 2-5-7 bag from SCS.  I know that her momma loves cats, so I thought I would do a background of black cats for this one.

Alright, I don't think that I am making sense anymore and luckily my hubby should be home from working a late night anytime, so I am going to call it a night.

Happy Halloween everyone!  Hope you have more treats than tricks!

Blog Changes

As you may, or may not, have noticed there are some changes happening on my blog.  I am slowly working on a new background and with the changes to the background I am learning some other new tricks.  Problem is that once I get them up, I don't want to have to take them down again, so I have just been leaving them as is.
I know that the colour scemes don't go well together, but hopefully I will get everything changed over soon, so this won't be an issue.
My biggest problem right now is trying to decide on a header that I like.  I made the background completely from scratch and would like to do the same with the header, but I just can't seem to find the perfect fit!  When I do, I will post the final results!

Happy Stampin!

Crops, Crops and More Crops!

For the next little while I am going to be getting ready for a couple of crops.  Luckily, I am not hosting any of them, as that would be WAY too much work for me to take on right now, but the lovely ladies that are hosting them have asked me to Demo at them or to supply prizes, etc. for them.

I look forward to them as I love to spend an entire day in a hall full of women that love doing the same things that I love!  It is so inspiring to see what everyone is working on and everyone's own style.

The first one that I am going to is a fundraiser for figure skating on October 23rd.

If you are in the Dalmeny area and want to get out for the day please contact the ladies above or you can find out more about it on facebook here.

This one is going to be the one that I am rushing for, as I will be demoing something for it and having a table set up with some of my samples and stuff.  It isn't that I don't have samples to show, but I would like to make some more to have set out for people to see and possibly some to sell.

The next one isn't until November 6th, so I have some time to get ready for that one.  It is a fundraiser for the Warman Indoor Playground.  I am not demoing that one, but I am donating a prize/prizes so I have to figure out what that is going to be.  With the donation of a prize, she is also going to put one of my business cards in each goodie bag.  I have business cards, but I like to change them up a bit now and then, so I hope to squeeze in time to design and print some new cards!
If you are in the Warman area and would like to come, you can find out more information about this crop on facebook here

This weekend is also going to be crazy, but it should be fun!  Seeing as it is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, we are going to be going out of town tonight so that we can see both of my parents.  Luckily they live in the same town, so we don't have to drive different places.  Then tomorrow night we are back home, but with company for the rest of the weekend, and then supper at the in-laws on Sunday.  I just hope that at the end of the busy weekend, that I will have some time to stamp on Monday!.

Happy Thanksgiving!

With Halloween just over a month away, here are a couple of great card ideas to look at.  And there is a great card that you could use for Valentine's day, or even an anniversary if you have one of those coming up.

I will post the name of the creator under each photo.  If they have a bog, I will also link their name to their blog so that you are able to check out more of their work.

Thanks again ladies for all of the work that you did to put these cards together!  I can't wait for the next swap and to be able to share more wonderful ideas!

Holiday Mini Swap

I'm back with the post that I was promising.  Here is the card that I mentioned in the last post, that I did for a swap last month.  When I first saw this stamp set "Jolly Old Saint Nick" (which you can buy it online in clear mount or wood) it reminded me of my childhood in some way.  Not sure exactly what it was about it, but I couldn't resist buying it.  To stick with the image from my childhood, I decided to do a vintage card.  It usually isn't my thing, but I really like how these turned out.
I used the Deck the Halls DSP and soon fell in love with Cherry Cobbler, which is also the base color for the card.  It is such a great red and the perfect shade to go with my vintage look.  I then stamped the snow flakes in Crumb Cake ink, on Crumb Cake paper.  The Santa image is stamped on Very Vanilla.
To add a little extra to the card, I mixed Dazzling Diamonds Glitter with Crystal Effects and filled in Santa's hat.  I added the new Waffle Paper (I wasn't so sure of it when I saw it in the catty, but soon fell in love with it once I got my hands on it) added down the side of the stamped image for some extra texture.  And used the Distressing Essentials kit to sponge all of the edges.

I will be back soon with some more posts (I promise it will be soon, I am going to schedule some posts) of the cards I received in the swap.

Missing In Action

**WARNING - Long post**
Sorry I have been MIA for a while, I have been so busy that I hadn't even had a chance to let you know that I was going on holidays!  Too late now though, I am back.  We had an AMAZING time on an Alaskan Cruise.  My grandma has wanted to go on a cruise like this since I was 2 and a couple of years ago 5 of us decided that if she wanted to go, that we wanted to be the ones to take her.  I wasn't really sure about it when we were planning it, but it was very relaxing, we were treated like royalty and I got to spend the whole week with Gram.  I have a LOT of photos that I hope to post a little later.  Right now I will start with this one.
Here is a picture of her and I together on the back of the ship just as we were leaving Vancouver.
I love this lady!  We are just over 60 years apart, but we are so close.  She is my dad's mom, but she is also one of my mom's best friends, so even though my parents are no longer together I get to see Gram at both parents homes when I go to my home town.

I was busy before we went getting ready to go.  I had a swap that I was involved that needed to be mailed before I went, which is why I didn't have a chance to post before I went on holidays.  I will post more about that later, I should be getting the swaps back in the mail soon.

I was also busy getting a few things ready for the cruise.  While on the ship you use your sea pass card for EVERYTHING!  It is your room key, you need it to get off and on the ship at ports, to order drinks and for anything that you wanted to buy while on the ship as there is no cash used on the ship.  Knowing this before we went, I was trying to figure out how I was going to carry this card with me at all time.  It wasn't too bad when we could wear jeans, but when wearing dress clothes (including dresses) and didn't have pockets we needed a way to carry them.  They are retractable ID badge holders and they worked wonderfully for what we needed,  but they weren't very pretty to be wearing with dress clothes.
This is what I came up with.
I made decorative paper flowers to cover the very plain, not so pretty, black retractable hooks.
I used punched 4 flowers - one Basic Black, one Very Vanilla and two Newspaper DSP.  The black and vanilla flowers I put through the crimper, smooshed and peeled the two layers of paper apart so that I had two of each.  I then inked the edges and stuck them together with the new Glitter Brads from the Holiday Mini.  These are my favorite flowers to make right now.

Then to hide the sea-pass cards, I decided that I would do a Newspaper DSP card, matted with Basic Black and a colored Monogram to match the flowers.
I cut the letters out with my cricut and then glazed them with a mixture of Glossy Accents and Dazzling Diamonds just to add a bit of extra bling.

I also made these thank you cards to take with me.  Whether they were appreciated or not, I thought it would be nice to make some little thank-you's for the people that served us on a regular basis.  I wanted something easy to make, easy to carry and easy for them to slip in their pocket so I made these 2.5" square cards with the Sweet Scoops stamp set from the Summer Mini and the sentiment is from the Trendy Trees set.

I have lots more to show you, just hope I will be able to find the time to post it all!  I will try to keep them shorter for you, but with being away for so long I just have SO much to say and as always so little time to say it in.
